House Grounds Gardens Great Tree Pin Oak Quercus palustris (at Play House) This specimen oak has graced this area for over 100 years. Notice it's large, upright growth habit and strong architectural structure. As a young tree, pin oak will remain pyramidal in shape for many years and eventually will grow into a large tree with a dense canopy. The small building next to this tree is the Playhouse, which is considered one of the oldest structures at Planting Fields.
