Pin Oak

Quercus palustris (at Play House) This specimen oak has graced this area for over 100 years. Notice it's large, upright growth habit and strong architectural structure. As a young tree, pin oak will remain pyramidal in shape for many years and eventually will grow into a large tree with a dense canopy. The small building next to this tree is the Playhouse, which is considered one of the oldest structures at Planting Fields.
