Golden English Elm

Ulmus procera ‘Aurea’ As you look across the lawn, admire this rare specimen tree whose golden leaves add interest to the more common green foliage. Occasionally, branches revert to the deep green color of the plain English Elm and these must be removed. This is a phenomenon called chimeral breakdown. Mr. Coe obtained four Golden English Elms before World War II. This specimen is now the largest of its kind on Long Island.
