THE NEW SENSORY GARDEN

& ENTRANCE PAVILION

At Planting Fields Arboretum

Planting Fields Foundation and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation have an unprecedented opportunity to create a welcoming entrance pavilion and sensory garden which will engage people of all abilities.

 

The sensory garden is the dramatic centerpiece of this project. Its stunning design will be an exciting addition to Planting Fields. Sounds, sights, textures, scents and tastes will delight and stir visitor’s imaginations.

 

Features of The Sensory Garden

  • The Education Garden will be a sheltered outdoor room providing space for gardening classes, lectures, and demonstrations
  • Wide, smooth paths with benches for relaxing and observing nature will lead visitors to explore and discover the richness and variety of the new sensory garden
  • Herbaceous plants, shrubs, and interactive touch pool will make the sensory garden a unique gathering place
  • Signage and interpretive materials will be accessible to all
  • Raised beds for close up vision, touch and smell
  • Plants labeled in braille and large print
  • Enhanced sounds of nature
  • Wide aisles for wheelchair accessibility

 

 

HOURS & INFORMATION

PARK HOURS:

9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily

$8 per car until Nov, 18th

COE HALL HOURS:

Self-Guided Visits to Coe Hall

11:30 am - 3:30 pm 3/29 - 9/30 daily

October Weekends only

$4 Non-Members

Members & Children under 12 are free
